Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Review by Toiletbrush Tripweed
"Vice City... Love it..."
Another Grand Theft AUto game. Although this baby feels more like an expansion than an entirely new game, it has given me a LOT more fun than plain old GTA3. It was worth the guy. Now to the actual review.
Basically going further when GTA 3 left off. Tommy vercetti (hey, the name of the main guy) is now a high dude in Libery City Crime Syndicates. The Syndicate wants to expand to Vice City and go into the drugs business. They send one of their best men. Of course, this would be Tommy, the player.
The game is certainly a lot better than old GTA3. Multiple new vehicles have been added. We now have, ina ddition to cars, bikes, helicopters (now you can actually *FLY* the things...) different kinds of boats, planes and scooters. More weapons (katana was awesome and I laughed my ass off when Tommy went ''Jason style'' through Vice City, going on a massacre). Tommy now has speeches (and humoristic... really) Real radio-stations (with actual songs) and of course, commercials are funny as always. I advice to listen to K-Chat, since they have HILARIOUS talk-shows.
Another feture is ''Real Estate''. Buy a house and a garage. Now you can dump a vehicle in it (it will stay there. Start a nice collection!) and have a new save point.
After a few hard missions you get a nice big house and with it comes a really nice surprise.... a helicopter. It is a bit confusing at first, but after a while, you will fly around like a real pilot. (I managed to land on a moving speedboat)
Also the game itself has a totaly fresh new look.
The grim grey areas from Liberty City are gone and replaced with the fresh, typical 80's Vice look. (purple clothes, golden chains, expensive watches, purple cars, etc) Tommy also looks different and has multiple costumes available (by means of doing missions you can get access to them) The cut scenes are full of typical 80's humor.
The gameplay is much like in GTA3. Nothing has changed much (both a blessing and a curse) A really good thing to note is that cops will come after you RIGHT after they see you commit a crime. So watch out before you smack Granny dead with the baseballbat, as a cop might just come around the corner.
Missions are still gotten from your ''boss'' and friends.
I also regret to inform you that Tommy still can't swim...
Now to the grades
Graphics: 8/10 Same models like in GTA3, but it looks really refreshing
Sound: 9/10 Radio Stations are awesome, cars sound like cars, bikes sound like bikes, good voice-acting.
Replay: 7/10 It has a LOT of secrets, not to mention a rampage is always fun
Gameplay: 8/10 Same as in GTA3, but it has new and refreshing things
Overal: *NOT an agerage* 9/10
Conclusion:
Vice City is an awesome game. Unless you don't like GTA or hated GTA3, you should get it. Although it feels more like a huge expansion, the game offers enough to deserve the name ''Game''
To buy or not to buy; That is the Question...
If you liked GTA, get it. If you hated GTA, don't. Never played GTA? Try it.
